hello everyone...
merry christmas and a happy new year..
hope you are enjoying your vacations. but do not forget the most interesting hhw that we have given you. yes, the murder mystery that you are supposed to write :). you know it'll be great fun. just try it out. i want you to concentrate on the information that i have provided you and interpret the reasons of it. try to use newer weapons and please leave behind guns and knives. they have become utterly boring now. you may think over and comprehend the things people can get hold of by being in a particular profession. so i wish to get some wonderful stories out of you people. im searching for a distinguished writer amongst you people. the information that was not exactly written down was that the maid of the countess of horbury comes to the compartment to handover a nail filer, the murder has taken place in mid air, norman gale is a dentist-turned-actor, jane grey is a hairdresser in a small shop-she is on the plane just because she won a lottery.
maybe you guys will now sit and watch cid :)
god bless you all!!
my hearty wishes for the new beautiful bright year!!

The end of living- the beginning of survival.

The title is taken from a chapter in our book but more than that, these words reflect what life has become these days. We have forgotten what life is. The fresh air, staring at stars, the shade of trees, the fragrance of flowers... Have they gone? No. We have sent them away. Nature is a part of geography, but we're making it history. We have become ignorant to it. Call it a technology effect, or some revolution, but the natural effect of everything has disappeared. By everything, I refer to human nature too. Fake nature of humans is not something shocking these days, but it's common. We are running after money and other materialistic things that apparently, make us happy. The peak of success for us is a successful show-off attempt. We want to impress people who don't even matter to us. We are under others' influence and have forgotten our own selves. We want to be like others and don't respect ourselves. In short, we want a shortcut to success. And what we aren't realizing is that these shortcuts are going to cost us loads in the long run! Money can't buy everything. The happiness we get from money is going to last temporarily. We think life is only in luxuries but our interpretation of life is wrong. This marks the end of life, and the race to survive starts here. Extravagance and glamour is what you'd be fed up of. Loneliness of spirit is what that would remain. You'd long for a friend, you'll log for peace, for nature's beauty. But no one would be there. Everyone would be obsessed by his own self. No one would have any time for anyone. No time for his brothers. No time for his mother nature, who would be crying in pain. Today we aren't giving time to nature, tomorrow it'd turn our backs towards us. And when we'd realize the importance of nature, it'd be too, too late. The earth and the world would be shedding tears. And the sun would have set...forever.

Tough to imagine that time, eh? God forbid but if that time ever comes, it'll all be because of us. We are the children of God, and we have to take care of the world. We are the future! Enough damage has been done to nature and to mankind. Appreciating beauty of nature is the need of the hour. Nature is a God gift. So why not let it remain for our children to see and cherish? There are several ways to preserve nature, we read environment- friendly tips etc. daily in newspapers, our textbooks. So why not take a step ahead? Why not implement?
And man badly needs to love his own self and his fellow ones. Discrimination should be abolished...not just by a law, but by man's heart.
If love and care are what we feel,
only then are the world's wounds going to heal!

Smile all the while!

Hello!
I must say that it's really feeling good to post on the official online version of the Literary Club as a co-author. I'm really grateful to the captains of the club for giving me this opportunity. I hope to utilize it to the fullest and to my best. So, the topic of this post comes from the topic given to us for the latest Literary Club activity, poetry writing. That topic was happiness, and I just modified it or let me say curved it to a smile. Writing poems is my passion and tell me if I'm good or bad at it! Here it goes...

Times may be tough,
but always wear a smile.
The world may be against you,
but keep smiling all the while.

If happy times didn't stay,
even the bad will be gone.
Smile, pray, believe,
accept life, and move on.

Smile is priceless,
but at the same time, it is valuable.
It shows your pleasant being,
it shows you're amiable.

Smile to show love,
smile to show care,
smile while helping,
smile is what you should share!

Smile shows relief
when accompanied by a sigh,
with a wink,
it signifies that you're high!

Let your smile be a light
when times are dark.
Keep smiling always,
and everywhere, your smile'd leave a mark!

So with this I end my first post on this blog. A really proud and a winner-like feeling in my heart. And this wasn't just a poem. It was my message to everyone out there who's sad and thinking that its impossible to smile or be happy. "Smile is a curve that sets everything straight." You would have heard this quote. Implement it! Hope my effort of making you smile succeeds! And if it does or doesn't, comment and please tell me!

Keep Smiling,
A proud literary club member,
Vrinda Bhatia!

New Activity (Comparing + Poetry Writing) 27.11.10

Its 01.30 AM. But time can not interfere in my job if I am interested in it. That should be one's spirit that whatever the time is, if he has passion for a particular thing, he must do it. And this is the spirit that I work with. This spirit is tried and tested by me. It will take you up. Believe me!
Moving on to the activity. 13 odd students were present. I don't know where the remaining 17 were. But to inform the unknown seventeens, we started with two activities simultaneously. One was COMPARING A PROGRAMME and the other one was poetry writing.
The current 8th class batch is going to have many and many opportunities in the comparing department, is what I predict. So comparing is the need of the hour for this batch. Three major functions require comparing the most - House function, Independence Day and the Annual Day. So the next mission of this literary club is to prepare students for comparing. Believe me, this will definitely help you in the long run.
And in poetry writing, I gave the topic "Happiness" and to be specific to rhyme scheme - "abab" or "abcb"! This is a good way of channelizing your thoughts.
I must confess that I haven't read the poems. But I have made some notes while you were comparing. Please don't feel bad. Think it more of as a way to improve.
VIII-A
1. Kushneet - Very loud. (Beginnings should be soft bu with force). Do not speak with a different accent. Speak as you speak with your friends. Don't give too much of pauses. You need to focus on your voice modulation. (Don't worry, we'd help you out)

2. Aditi - Voice modulation strictly needed. And it was blank. As if reading a book just for the sake of it. Bring force when you speak.

3. Mughda - Good pauses. Should be more forceful. And should also know when to be fast and when to slow down. Overall, Excellent Mughda. You have potential. Keep it up!

4. Vrinda - Vrinda, all I want to say is RELAX!!!. Don;t run. Take your time. Feel what you say and say what you feel. You were very fast. Impact is lost when you run away. My final verdict, don't worry All is well :) . Just speak with pauses and slowly slowly. We will tell you how!

VIII-B
5. Siddharth - Be natural with your accent. Be a little soft.

6. Shivam - You were very fast. Take your time. Speak with full feel of the content. Modulate your voice. You can improve. And we will together do that.

7. Shubhangi - Please slow down. Be a little more forceful. Should know where to pause. And overall, yes, you can improve and make it.

VIII-C
8. Raji - Be forceful. Modulate voice. Personally, what I think is that you can do it. Practice and exposure is what you need!

9. Ekjot - Please be forceful. Modulate your voice. Don't read a textbook. Speak it more formally. But I liked your voice!

10. Simratpal - You were very fast. Impact was lost. But the pauses were correct.

VIII-D
11. Mridul - Very fast. But you were forceful. Thats good. Improve pauses.

12. Adish - Liked your voice. But it must be bolder. Improve pauses! Wanted to know, why aren't you interested in comparing?

13. Stuti - Good force. Improve pauses. You have scope.

This brings me to the end of my comments. Now some GENERAL NOTIFICATIONS.
1. Activity related - A common conclusion can be drawn out that most of you lack modulation and pause ability. These can only be improved when you listen well in functions and major celebrations of school events. I mean to say that listen to people comparing. Listen how they give pause, how they raise their voices when the school magazine has to be launched and keep a medium voice during shabad. Look at their facial expressions. These are some of the serious advices I would like to give. And if you listen to every comparing and even try imitating that in your own language, I bet you will succeed. I  mean, I never knew what comparing was until I saw some house functions and annual days. From those events, i learned where to give pause, when to look up, when to read, what should be the posture. Every little thing matters in the process of perfection. I hope you'd implement. Another problem is diction and pronunciation. Come on guys, you are in eighth now. To be precise you are in the literary club now. Atleast keep a check on pronunciation. |SUBLIME| this is the word which most of you pronounced wrong.

2. A new contest - Whoever will perform the given activity better than the rest, (1 nominated by me and 1 by Manmeet) will get a chance to author the blog along with us for a week or a fortnight. You will be given special details about a secret username and password.

3. A special announcement - 2 students of this club, I find them dedicated to improve. One is Vrinda. Her passion for improvement is quite evident in her comments on our posts. So Vrinda is the first co author of our blog. Vrinda to contact me separately as soon as she reads the message. The second member is Aditi. She approached me personally on how to improve speaking skills. This is called true passion. Aditi will be rewarded surely. But unfortunately, its pending for now. Well done Vrinda and Aditi. This club needs members like you. Keep it up.

4. Join Online - 13 followers out of which 4 are not in our club. Rather 6 including me and Manmeet. so only 7 people of literary club are actually following the blog. I request you all to invite friends and follow us. Don't just read the blog. Make a user ID on blogspot by creating an ID on gmail. Follow us in our list. We will update the blog regulary and make some advanced graphical changes including the introduction of literary gadgets only if you people join and remain connected online. I want atleast 25 of the 30 members to be here.

With this, I sign off. Hope you will ponder and implement. Its 2.20 Am.  My eyes are filled with water beacuse of the yorning. Will do anything for you people. All you have to do is to just show me that you have that passion. Rest, its our job, we will lead you. Take you to a better world.

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Hello and welcome to this blog, my dear club-mates! No need of much introduction as it has already been given. Now moving onto some serious matter. The 3 rules of this blog are
1 - Everybody will write in full grammatically incorrect English - No one will (including the group members) will use abbreviations or other terms examples are (dis, dat, bcoz, sm1, wenevr n der is no end 2 d list). So, this language is prohibited. I hope you understand this English. And this blog is no fun, it is the online official version of THE LITERARY CLUB - VIII.

2 - No one will be allowed to post anonymous comments - The right to publish comments lies with Manmeet and me. Comment publishing goes through a rigorous process of selection as I have applied the settings. So if an anonymous comment comes, it will be rejected without giving a second thought. In short, I mean to say, come on guys, create your ID's if you don't have!

3 - On the use of foul language, strict action will be taken - Again, the same thing, the right to publish comments rests with Manmeet and me. And if you guys think, we will not be able to know who has published an abusive comment, you are mistaken. Let me tell you about a software which we have used in this blog. If me and Manmeet tag a comment as "INAPPROPRIATE", then the comment will tell the address or the location from where it had come. And then, we would check up the school register to know the correct address. So beware, its all computerised.
CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION - If an inappropriate comment has been posted by a literary club member, he/she shall be fired from the group without even considering the reputation or his/her skills. And if the member is of MJKPS and posts that type of a comment, he shall be issued a defaulter slip.

So, this is Harjas Singh and Manmeet Kaur welcoming you to the club. We will appreciate if more and more members connect online. All the best for the play fest. Do well and something different. God Bless. We will post the results online after Tuesday. This is me, Harjas Singh, signing off with officially the first post of our blog.

Good-Bye,
Take Care,
Always with you all,
A friend, philosopher and a guide,
Harjas Singh Gulati!
